چکیده
The propagation of a Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beam through dispersive medium is investigated. effect the doughnut-like intensity profile probe LG on group velocity studied. We find an analytical expression for out optical axis and compare with its projection onto axis. It turned that vector along at waist Rayleigh range. numerically analytically investigate helical phase front coupling field in four-level double V -type quantum system. Our analysis predicts strange behavior inside normal gain region so it can exceed speed light free space, leads to gain-assisted superluminal dispersion. Such unusual results from distortion via classical interference planar fields. obtained may some potential applications increasing information transmission communications.

Has Superluminal Light Propagation Been Observed? *
It says in the report by Wang et al. that a negative group velocity u = −c/310 is obtained and that a pulse advancement shift 62-ns is measured. The authors claim that the negative group velocity is associated with superluminal light propagation and that the pulse advancement is not at odds with causality or special relativity. However, it is shown here that their conclusions above are not true...
متن کاملSuperluminal and slow light propagation in a room-temperature solid.
We have observed both superluminal and ultraslow light propagation in an alexandrite crystal at room temperature. Group velocities as slow as 91 meters per second to as fast as -800 meters per second were measured and attributed to the influence of coherent population oscillations involving chromium ions in either mirror or inversion sites within the crystal lattice. Namely, ions in mirror site...
متن کامل. cl as s - ph ] 2 2 Ju n 20 01 On the superluminal propagation of light - pulses in a ” transparent ” dispersive medium
The mechanisms leading to a seemingly superluminal propagation of light in dispersive media are examined. The anomalous dispersion near an absorption line, involved in the first experiments displaying negative group velocity propagation, is shown to be not only simpler but also more efficient than the so-called transparent dispersion used in the later experiments of Wang et al. (Nature (London)...
متن کاملSuperluminal propagation of pulsed pseudo-thermal light in atomic vapor.
We report an experimental demonstration of slow and superluminal propagation of pseudo-thermal (chaotic) light in the Λ-type system of the 5S(1/2)-5P(1/2) transition of (87)Rb atom. The slowed propagation of pulsed pseudo-thermal light was demonstrated in an electromagnetically-induced transparency medium while the superluminal propagation was demonstrated with the enhanced absorption scheme wh...
